The Renault Trafic has won the title of Best Heavy Van at the 2009 British Insurance Vehicle Security Awards.
The awards, supported by the Home Office, Department for Transport and The AA Motoring Trust, give motorists an independent review of vehicle's security features.
For the first time vans were eligible to enter the awards hosted Thatcham, the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre, and Renault's best-selling van stole the show.
Based on the New Vehicle Security Ratings (NVSR) scheme, the Trafic achieved a maximum five stars in the 'Theft Of' section, and four in the 'Theft From', thanks to a wide range of standard fit security features.
The van comes armed with technology features suitable to protect against break-ins and theft, such as anti-drill door locks and barrels, Thatcham category one alarm and immobiliser system.
Remote central locking with deadlocking, full steel bulkheads and R.A.I.D. (Renault Anti Intruder Device), which automatically locks all the vehicles doors once travelling above 5mph, are also installed to fend off thieves.
