Motorists in Dorset have topped a list of speeding offenders, suggesting that drivers from the area could also face higher car insurance premiums.
Five areas in the county made it to the list of regions with high concentrations of speeding convictions, according to a postcode-specific survey by car insurance firm Admiral.
The poll found that almost a quarter (24.2%) of drivers in the Sandbanks area of Poole had been convicted for speeding in the last five years, with the only other area with a larger number being Radlett in Hertfordshire, with 25.7%.
The Westbourne area of Bournemouth, fourth on the list, contributed to 22.9%, while the Lilliput area of Poole was seventh with 21.2%.
Other areas in the South West that featured on the list included Winton in Bournemouth, placed 15th, with 19.2%, and West Cliff in Bournemouth, 20th, with 18.9%.
In contrast, only 5.5% of motorists from St Ives in Cornwall had received a speeding conviction in the last five years.
The poll of 2,100 adults also found that more than 10% of motorists had a speeding conviction on their licence, while 87% of drivers admitted to breaking the speed limit and 69% said the 70mph limit on motorways should be raised to 80mph or more.
