Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp was mugged by thieves while he and Spurs assistant manager Kevin Bond were at the Madrid derby.
The incident, which gives further reason for people to take out travel insurance, happened as the duo were walking around the Vicente Calderon stadium, where they were watching the second leg of the quarter-final clash of the Copa del Rey.
The 63-year-old was approached by two men, who fell to their knees and started pulling his trouser leg.
He said: "I felt someone pull my overcoat. I thought 'What's that?', and didn't take any notice.
"The next thing there's two guys on their knees in front of me and they've got my trousers and they keep pulling them.
"And I thought 'What are they doing?' I'm going: 'Let go of my trousers', pushing them away. While I'm doing that they're rifling my pockets, there were about six of them.
"I put my hand in my pockets and realised what they'd done. They took everything. All my money, credit cards, everything really."
The Tottenham boss was lucky enough that his passport and his phone, which were in the top pockets, were not taken.
However, he did not report the matter to the police. He went back to the hotel in a taxi with money borrowed from Mr Bond and returned to the UK soon after.
