Should your van break down on the road, you could benefit from the following:
- Year-round, 24/7 roadside assistance for breakdowns over 1/4 mile from your registered address
- Up to 1 hour of free labour at the roadside
- If your vehicle can't be repaired on the road, you will be towed to a suitable local garage within a 20-mile radius and transport will be provided for up to 6 people
- UK cover if your van breaks down due to misfuelling
There is no limitation to the number of callouts that can be made per year, but calls for the same fault will not be covered unless your van has been fully repaired in the last 28 days or declared fit by our agents.
Roadside assistance and recovery

If your van breaks down and can't be repaired on the same day, the engineer will choose the most convenient solution. This van breakdown recovery package includes:
- Nationwide recovery of the van and up to 8 people including the driver. You'll be taken to either your original destination or home address
- 24-hour hire vehicle if repairs can be completed the following day
- Hotel accommodation for one night
- Paying up to £250 to continue your journey via public transport

Only £79.95
If your van breaks down on your drive or within 1/4 mile of your home address, Patrol Assistance will come out. They will attempt to repair your van for up to an hour and if it can't be fixed, your vehicle will be towed to the nearest garage within a 20-mile radius.
European breakdown cover
Only £106.95
Should you take a trip anywhere in the UK or Europe, you'll be covered if your van breaks down. Providing your trip does not exceed 90 days, Roadside Assistance will attempt to fix your van at the roadside. If this isn't possible, they will tow your vehicle to the nearest garage.
If your van repairs take longer than 8 hours, Inter Partner Assistance S.A. UK Branch will arrange for the most appropriate solution. This can include:
- You, along with your passengers and luggage, will be transported to where you were originally travelling to. You'll be taken to your vehicle once it is repaired
- The cost of hiring another car will be paid for, up to £750
- A bed and breakfast of up to £125 per person each day (£750 in total for everyone in your group) will be paid for if you have already paid for your original accommodation and can't get your money back
If your van is still not repaired or safe to drive by the time you need to go home, suitable transport will get you there. You could also receive up to £150 towards other travel costs in the UK. It will then be decided whether:
- To take your van home or to your chosen repairer in the UK
- Pay the cost of one rail, sea, or air ticket for you to get your vehicle once it has been repaired

Van Breakdown Cover FAQs
It can be dangerous if you break down on the road. Here's what you can do to stay safe while awaiting assistance:
- Move your van off the road or onto the hard shoulder of a motorway if possible.
- If your van breaks down on a smart motorway, try to make it to an exit slip road or emergency refuge area. If this isn't possible, switch on your hazard lights and position your van as far left as possible.
- Put on a high-vis jacket if you have one and put up a warning triangle if safe to do so.

The cost of your van breakdown cover will depend on the level of cover you choose, so it's hard for us to answer this question without knowing exactly what you need. But rest assured we'll always try to offer a policy at a price that works for you.
There are two easy options to choose from when paying for your van breakdown cover. You can split the cost across monthly payments via direct debit or you can pay the whole premium upfront.
This often depends on the level of breakdown cover you purchase for your van. With the Roadside Assistance package, your van is covered in the case of a breakdown regardless of who is driving.

You can add breakdown cover to your existing Van Insurance policy mid-term, however only the UK Roadside Breakdown element of cover is available for the first 24 hours of your policy. If you add EU breakdown cover, any claims made within the first 10 days will not be covered.
