Rare 1 0 number plate goes on sale

by  |

An auction of personalised number plates is expected to see its star attraction fetch more than £10,000 when it comes up for sale.

Registration number 1 0 - one of the last rare car number plates to be auctioned - will go under the hammer at a three-day Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) auction starting on Wednesday.

Damian Lawson, personalised registrations marketing manager for the DVLA, said: "For the personalised registration connoisseur 1 O is arguably one of rarest plates available and, as such, we have set the highest reserve we've ever set on one of our auction plates, but one I am confident it will exceed."

The auction at Whittlebury Hall near Towcester in Northamptonshire will also feature number plate 3 S, which could fetch at least £8,000, and 1 HRH - which could be sold for at least £2,200.

Other number plates up for sale include CO57 TAS (which has a reserve price of £900), DAM 144N (£900), DOR IIIS (£500), EA57 ERN (£1,000), EAR 17H (£350), HAM 155H (£900), JUD 177H (£700), KYL IIIE (£900), MAG 991E (£900), 57 OKE (£1,900), ORV 111L (£400), OUR 7OY (£900) and SPA 11N (£900).
