Cutting motoring costs, lowering car-insurance premiums and saving the planet are all priorities for owners of `green` hybrid vehicles.
Which helps explain why the Lexus RX 4x4 and Toyota Prius are first and second respectively in JD Power and Associates and What Car? magazine owner-satisfaction survey.
Says What Car? editor Steve Fowler: "Sales of SUVs (sports utility vehicles) may be on the slide, but it's clear that owners of the Lexus RX 4x4 would gladly recommend their car to others.
"Many of the RXs in the survey were hybrid models, and with the hybrid Toyota Prius in second place, it's clear that environmentally-friendly cars are hugely satisfying to own."
The Honda Jazz, which will be made at its Swindon, Wiltshire, plant from this autumn, was third, the Lexus is fourth and the Mercedes-Benz CLK fifth.
Least satisfactory were the Fiat Punto, Peugeot 206 and the Ford Galaxy 99th. Among manufacturers, Lexus, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Skoda and Toyota were top of the league, with Fiat at the bottom.
