Rare 'Hamster' motorbike stolen

One of only a few German-built KTM Duke 690 motorcycles believed to be in the UK has been stolen from outside a house in Aberdeen.

The black and orange machine, registration SP09DGUA and worth about £6,000, was taken from Rubislaw Terrace Lane in the west end of the city at around midday on Thursday, say police.

Top Gear presenter Richard 'Hamster' Hammond reportedly has one of the bikes. He told Motor Cycle News: "The simplicity of a single-cylinder engine and of the whole bike is utterly charming.

"Yes, it's got a clever digital dash and yes, there's actually rather a lot of very modern, very clever technology packed into it to get the most from that engine and the frame, but despite it all, it still feels rugged, simple and charming and that's a hard trick to pull off.

"In short then, it's taken me back to why I got into biking in the first place."
