Police issued a driver with two speeding tickets after he parked his car near a camera, it has emerged.
Nottinghamshire Police sent Jeff Buck the tickets in a blunder that could have caused his car insurance premiums to rocket.
Mr Buck parks the car outside his home on Watnall Road, Nottingham, because he does not have a drive or a garage.
The tickets were issued by officers who failed to realise that Mr Buck's car was parked. The trigger was set off by another car driving faster than the 30mph limit.
Mr Buck received an apology from the police after he successfully contested the fines.
The apology came after the 55-year-old demanded photographic evidence of his Vauxhall Zafira doing 37mph along Watnall Road on December 13.
He told the Nottingham Evening Post: "I assumed the first time it happened that the police would put something in place to prevent it from happening again.
"I'm concerned now that every time someone triggers the camera I'll get these notices."
A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire Police said staff were being given guidance about the importance of verifying images properly.
