Sales figures for second hand cars have shown that the Vauxhall Astra has been toppled from the top of the league, and been replaced by another Vauxhall model - the Corsa.
The statistics relating to used car sales in 2009 showed that the former leader - the Astra - is now the third most popular second hand car in the UK, with the Ford Fiesta maintaining the second position it achieved in 2008, according to the data which was collated by information services company Experian.
Rounding out the top five for future car insurance policy holders, the Ford Focus has stayed in fourth position for the second year running, with the Volkswagen Golf remaining in fifth.
Other cars in the top ten included the BMW 3 series, the Ford Mondeo, the Renault Clio, the Vauxhall Vectra and the Peugeot 206.
Mark Nuttall, Experian's automotive business general manager, said: "As our analysis shows, affordable smaller vehicles have managed to appeal again to motorists, with the Corsa overtaking all the other cars to become the nation's favourite used car."
