Actor Bruce Jones, better known to soap fans as Coronation Street's Les Battersby, has been handed a suspended prison sentence after admitting dangerous driving.
The troubled actor, whose battle with the bottle has been well-documented, admitted yanking the steering wheel of his wife Sandra's car as she drove along a busy North Wales road last August while shouting "I'll kill us both", earning him an eight month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Jones, 57, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving a day after a jury heard his wife's evidence about how he subjected her to years of drink-fuelled physical and emotional abuse.
Sentencing the actor at Mold Crown Court, Recorder Simon Medland, said: "You threatened to kill both you and your wife and you jerked the steering wheel up and down, causing the car to swerve within its lane.
"It is fortunate for you and all others around you that your wife had her wits about her."
