Four special-edition BMW motorbikes are being launched to mark the 30th anniversary of the iconic GS (Gelande-Strasse) range.
Starting the trend for adventure sports motorcycles, the BMW GS was introduced in 1980 with the R80GS model. GS stands for the German words for trail and street.
The limited-edition anniversary GS models will sport the red, white and blue colours of the R80 GS Rally Raiders.
Additional features such as hand-protectors, cross spoke wheels, aluminium engine guards, tinted windshields and white indicators will be included in the R1200GS and Adventure, the F800GS and F650GS bikes.
Tony Jakeman, marketing manager for BMW UK, said: "The popularity and high volume of sales over the past 30 years, underline the unique and universal appeal of the GS 'Gelande Strasse' concept.
"Until fairly recently, BMW's GS range of motorcycles was considered a rather niche proposition, used mainly by globetrotters and desert racers. However, the legendary GS has now firmly entered the mainstream, buoyed by a realisation that the unique blend of on and off-road capabilities, combined with the GS range's touring credentials, make for the perfect all-round motorcycle."
The special-edition motorbikes will be demonstrated at BMW dealerships on June 19, while their prices will be unveiled on June 1.
