BMW recalls 122,000 motorcycles

by  |

BMW has recalled as many as 122,000 of its motorcycles around the world due to a possible brake problem.

The problem affects various versions of six models, including the R 1200 GS Adventure motorbike. Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor rode versions of this model in their famous 2007 Long Way Down biking adventure.

The other models include the R 1200 GS, the R 1200 R, the R 1200 RT, the R 1200 ST and the K 1200 GT.

It has been said that around 6,600 motorbikes in the UK are effected by the recall.

Dealers have started notifying owners of the bikes about the brake fault. British bikers have been told that vibrations could cause the front brake lines to develop leaks which could allow brake fluid to escape.

And in a worst case, this could lead to a failure of the front brakes.
