Bond's Aston Martin to go on sale

by  |

Car insurance will certainly not come cheap for the lucky buyer who snaps up the James Bond movie Aston Martin set to go under the hammer later this year.

The 1964 Aston Martin DB5 featured in Goldfinger and Thunderball - movies which starred Sean Connery as the suave super-spy - comes with bullet-proof shield, revolving number plates and a host of other gadgets.

It is expected to fetch around £3.5 million for its owner, American DJ Jerry Lee, who bought the car in 1969 for 12,000 US dollars.

Proceeds from the sale will go to his charitable foundation which support education and anti-crime projects worldwide.

Mr Lee said: "The James Bond car has brought me much enjoyment for some 40 years.

"Even as I sell it and use the proceeds to fund the Jerry Lee Foundation, the car will continue to give me great pleasure as it furthers the mission of the foundation to do good around the world."

The car will be sold at auction in London on October 27.
