Emergency services have been rushed in to attend to a car blaze near the Buckingham Palace.
Police and firefighters hurried to the scene in The Mall, central London at 10.15am on Wednesday.
The road between Admiralty Arch and the Queen Victoria Memorial was closed to traffic and pedestrians, and police cleared members from the nearby Green Park.
The blaze took place near Clarence House - the official residence of Prince Charles and Camilla, a Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: "We were called to a car on fire in The Mall, Westminster, at about 10.15am."
A police spokesperson said: "Road closures are in place. The cause of the fire is not known at this stage."
A Clarence House spokeswoman said she knew about the fire.
