Used-car buyers are more likely to take out car insurance on a German brand than any other, suggests a survey which ranks the BMW 5 Series as the most sought-after second hand model.
German manufactured brands dominate the list of most looked-for used cars on online retailer Autoquake's website.
Three out of five searches by prospective buyers are for German vehicles, with Japanese-made cars a distant second at 9.8%, and UK brands third with 9.1%.
The Audi A4 and BMW 5 Series are the second and third most popular models among motorists looking for used cars.
The only two non-German models in the top 10 are Ford Focus in eighth and Ford Mondeo in ninth place.
BMWs accounted for 20.9% of the individual models searched for, followed by Audi with 16.1% and Mercedes-Benz with 12.1%.
The top 10 most sought-after used cars list includes Mercedes-Benz C-Class (fourth), Volkswagen Golf (fifth), Volkswagen Passat (sixth), Audi (seventh) and Mercedes-Benz E-Class in tenth place.
