The planned tube strikes for next week which could have affected Wimbledon have been cancelled. Arwyn Thomas, the driver who the strikes centred around, has been reinstated following an employment tribunal.
The tribunal ruled that Thomas was unfairly dismissed by Transport of London and that other lesser punishments should have been considered before dismissal.
The Rail Maritime and Transport had threatened to continue with the three planned strikes next week which would of caused disruption to regular services, and to people travelling to the Wimbledon tournament.
London Underground have welcomed the move not to strike and to re-instate Thomas, and is happy that Thomas is ensured that re-instatement is on the basis that he recognises the seriousness of his behaviour.
Thomas was previously dismissed for alleged abusive behaviour towards his colleagues.
