Tool to help fleets during Games

by  |

New online postcode information launched by Transport for London (TfL) in co-operation with Royal Mail could help freight companies prepare more effectively for the 2012 Games period.

By inputting individual postcodes in the capital, businesses can check whether their delivery locations are included in the Olympic Route Network (ORN) or Central London Zone (CLZ), which are likely to be impacted during the Games.

This will help freight firms stay informed of likely obstructions on the delivery routes they regularly use and draw up a contingency plan accordingly.

Logistics companies can use the new tool, which will be available at www.tfl.gov.uk/developers, to save some time and money, which they might want to spend finding a great van insurance deal.

Leon Daniels, managing director of Surface Transport at TfL, said: "Last week's freight forum was an invaluable source of intelligence about what those involved in making and receiving deliveries will need to keep London running during the Games. It also confirmed that no one organisation or sector can achieve this alone - it will be a joint effort."
