Harsh winter warning for motorists

by  |

With fears of another harsh winter running high, experts are urging motorists to place orders for specifically designed winter tyres.

Drivers have been advised to approach Kwik-Fit Fleet by the end of this month and ensure that the tyres are fitted to their vehicles as a matter of precaution.

Kwik-Fit Fleet has placed orders for 200,000 winter tyres this year after the unprecedented demand last year when the UK witnessed the coldest winter in three decades.

Those who plan to purchase new vehicles have also been urged to grab comprehensive van insurance deals taking into account the dangerous road conditions and high accident risk during winter.

"Meteorologists are already warning that the first harsh winter weather could arrive next month. As a result, we are recommending that winter tyres should be fitted to vehicles from the end of September or in the first half of October and remain in place until the end of March," said Kwik-Fit Fleet official Peter Lambert.
