Midlands van raiders take a break

by  |

Leicestershire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after thieves stole thousands of Kit Kat Chunky White chocolate bars from an HGV lorry that was parked in Coalville as the driver slept.

The theft took place on the A511 Bardon Road near to the junction with Beveridge Lane at nearly 5.30am on September 9.

The thieves stole the chocolate bars after forcing open the rear doors of the lorry when the driver was sleeping in the vehicle's cab.

Upon waking up, the driver spotted the thieves driving off with the chocolates in a small white van.

PC Paul Hicks, the investigating officer, said: "It is extremely likely that those responsible have tried to or already have sold the chocolate bars on to unsuspecting buyers.

"If you have recently been approached by someone trying to sell you a large quantity of Kit Kat Chunky White bars then please get in touch and help us with our enquiries."

Motorists must ensure that adequate security measures are adopted to prevent unnecessary van insurance claims.
