Car and commercial vehicle production in the UK has stepped up a gear, according to the latest figures.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said that in September 136,051 cars were produced, a 7.5% increase on the previous September, which suggests more people could be taking out car insurance.
From the start of the year to September, car production increased by 4.8% compared to the 2010 figures.
SMMT chief executive Paul Everitt said: "The September 2011 production increases confirm a positive trend we expect to continue into 2012.
"Major new investment by vehicle manufacturers is opening up opportunities for UK-based suppliers, helping to drive the economic recovery and private sector investment."
The production of commercial vehicles also rose 6.2% in same month with 12,046 being produced and engine production was up 6.6% to 244,270.
