A recent study has shown that the majority of Britons use their garages to store other possessions and not to park their cars.
According to the poll by www.onepoll.com, more than two-thirds of households which own a car keep items worth £3,400 in the garage.
On the other hand, vehicles worth an average of £13,487 are parked on the road.
Although 41% of respondents are concerned about their car being stolen or vandalised, 25% have said that they park their vehicles outside.
More than a quarter accepted that they park outside as they feel it takes too much effort to park vehicles in garages.
Owners can save money on their car insurance premiums by keeping their vehciles safely tucked away out of sight in their garages.
