150mph rider gets suspended term

by  |

A motor cycle rider has been given a suspended jail sentence and five-year ban after he uploaded videos online of himself speeding at up to 150mph.

Robert Mark Owens, 48, filmed himself four times in April while riding his bike around the streets of Buckinghamshire.

The Kawasaki 600cc bike rider shot the YouTube video with the help of a camera mounted on his helmet.

According to a spokesman of Thames Valley Police, Owens of Whaddon Way, Bletchley pleaded guilty to four counts of dangerous driving at the court, which was sitting at Amersham Magistrates' Court.

He was given a 51-week jail term, suspended for two years and 150 hours of community work.

Additionally, his bike worth £3,000 and camera worth £150 have also been taken away from him, the spokesman added.

Owens can expect to have to pay significantly higher bike insurance premiums once he finally gets his licence back.
