JCB have announced they have secured an order which will total to £36 million. Orders were placed by rental firm A-Plant, for 550 machines worth £16million and parent group Ashtead Group’s U.S. operation Sunbelt for 494 machines worth £20 million.
The two contracts were revealed at the company’s headquarters as they welcomed hundreds of existing and potential new customers to visit the site. JCB who employs more than 5,000 people in Staffordshire are extremely excited about their latest deals.
JCB’s UK & Ireland Sales Director Yvette Henshall-Bell commented: “To win a deal of this size is a testament to the quality and reliability of JCB’s machines. It also shows huge confidence in the market. We are absolutely delighted to have won this business, which cements a relationship going back a number of years.”
Both A-Plant and Sunbelt have placed orders for a variety of different machines including mini and midi excavators, tracked excavators, loadall telescopic handlers, backhoe loaders, Vibromax compaction equipment and rough terrain forklifts. The majority of machines that have been ordered by the two companies will be manufactured at Rocester, Cheadle and Uttoxeter. Part of Sunbelt’s order for 19 compaction machines will be made at JCB Vibromax in Gatersleben, Germany.
A-Plant procurement director Andrew Winlow commented: “The scale of the order reflects the strength of our relationship and our positive outlook towards future market growth, which will see us add further JCB models to our fleet.”
The announcement was made at a special event organised for hire companies. Lord Digby Jones, former Confederation of British Industry director-general attended the event as the guest of honour.
