Many businesses provide company vehicles for their staff to carry out their duties. However, the recession saw some companies cut the size of their fleets over time, or even remove the provision altogether in some cases, forcing employees to use their own vehicles and get reimbursed in related expenses instead. While reducing or removing a fleet of cars or vans clearly cuts out the expense of buying the vehicles in the first place, it can actually lead to higher costs in the long term for some.
