Charity update

by  |

Here at Autonet the charity committee and staff have been busy making donations and supporting local and national charities for all types of events. With Summer officially here (even though it may not look it) lots of fun runs and marathons have been taking place which Autonet have sponsored. Here is an update.

Alzheimer’s Society

A £500 donation to the Alzheimer’s Society was made this month which will go towards the work the charity does. The Alzheimer’s Society is a membership organisation which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each year £2million is spent on research which helps to improve the quality of life and to support families the best they can.

Race for Life

Race for life took place this month which is a national charity that supports cancer, it’s a chance for people to get involved and run, jog or walk the 5K race for life. The night was a huge success with around 2,000 people taking part. A few members of staff here at Autonet took part in Race for Life to which the committee donated £100 towards a great cause.

Potters Arf Marathon

The annual Potters Arf Marathon took place this month with our very own staff member taking part in the 13 mile course which covered Stoke-on-Trent. Just over 1500 people took part in the marathon with many spectators turning out to support the runners. A sponsorship of £100 was made for the run which was donated to Chernobyl Children which is a charity that provides support to children with disabilities and illness.

Burslem Park

A restoration project for Burslem Park in Stoke-on-Trent has been in development for the past couple of months. A grand opening will be happening this weekend which will feature local bands, displays and extreme biking. A sponsorship of £550 has been made to go towards the extreme mountain biking event on the day. Look out for next week’s blog to see how the grand opening went.

Collection Bins

We are still collecting for unused pet food and toys using our pet bins, once the bin is full we then take it to a pet shelter or shop to donate to them. A couple of donations from us have already been made and another is hoped for the end of the month. Clothing is also still being collected throughout the month; any unwanted clothes have been donated by the Autonet staff and will then be taken to a homeless shelter.

See you next time!
