Bringing Back the Fleet to Lower Travel Costs | Autonet Insurance

by  |

Many businesses provide company vehicles for their staff to carry out their duties. However, the recession saw some companies cut the size of their fleets over time, or even remove the provision altogether in some cases, forcing employees to use their own vehicles and get reimbursed in related expenses instead.

While reducing or removing a fleet of cars or vans clearly cuts out the expense of buying the vehicles in the first place, it can actually lead to higher costs in the long term for some. Depending on the type of business you run and the type of vehicles needed, your employees may not even have a suitable vehicle of their own to use, as most employees won’t already have a van, or be able to buy one if necessary for the job.

Having decided to keep or introduce a fleet of vans or cars, you can often save money by choosing this type of insurance. Rather than having to get separate quotes on all of your vehicles, perhaps all finishing at different times of year, you can save yourself a lot of time and effort by having them all covered together. It doesn’t even matter if you have different types of vehicle working on different projects, you can still group these vehicles into one policy having each listed out separately based on the insurance requirements.

Having one policy makes it much easier and less time-consuming to deal with should anyone in the company have an accident too. You won’t have to go hunting around for the policy details for that particular vehicle, as it will be covered under the same one.

As with any vehicle insurance policy, you may need additional policies to ensure that you are covered for every eventuality. We don’t just cover cars and vans either, but also HGVs, trucks, pickups and flatbeds. You may even have a combination of some or all of these different types of vehicles. Many companies will need additional insurance products alongside their vehicle insurance including public liability insurance, employer’s liability insurance and insurance to cover the more expensive contents kept or transported in any vehicles. Be sure to ask about these products when choosing your fleet insurance.
