Do I need temporary car insurance?
Whilst at Autonet, we don't offer temporary car insurance, you can get cover from two of our trusted partners: Tempcover and Marmalade.
Temporary car insurance, also known as short-term car insurance, provides the same coverage as a normal policy but for a shorter period of time.
Sometimes you just need a few hours, days, weeks or months of cover - so taking out an average annual policy just won't work for you.
You might need temporary cover if you're:
- A learner driver who just needs a few weeks of cover to practice before their driving test
- A student who only needs a week of cover when they're home for university
- A young driver who shares a family member's car from time to time, and wants to take a few weeks of cover out during the summer holidays
- A driver who doesn't own a car, but needs to take a day trip somewhere so takes out cover for a day
How it works
It's simple. Temporary insurance runs separately to the main car insurance policy, which means that if you need to make a claim on your temporary insurance, the main policy remains unaffected, including the No Claims Discount. You can get a quote through Tempcover or Marmalade.
- Damage to the car
- Loss by fire or theft
- Repairs to the car
How long can I take out temporary car insurance for?
Whether you need insurance for a few hours, days, weeks or months, we can have you covered through our trusted partner Tempcover or sister brand Marmalade.
- 1 hour car insurance
- 1 day car insurance
- Weekly car insurance
- One month car insurance
Marmalade offers car insurance specifically tailored to the needs of provisional and full licence holders. Choose from learner driver car insurance from 30 days to eight months or student driver car insurance from seven to 42 days.
