Why might I need Temporary Car Insurance?
Whilst we don't offer temporary car insurance ay Autonet, you can get cover from two of our trusted partners: Tempcover and Marmalade.
Temporary car insurance, also known as short-term car insurance, provides the same coverage as a normal policy but for a shorter period of time.
Sometimes you just need a few hours, days, weeks or months of cover - so taking out an average annual policy may not work for you.
You might need temporary cover if you're:
- A learner driver who just needs a few weeks of cover to practise before a driving test
- A young driver sharing a family member's car from time to time, and you want to take a few weeks of cover out during the summer holidays
- A driver who doesn't own a car, but you need to take a day trip somewhere so take out cover for a day
How it works
It's simple. Temporary insurance runs separately to the main car insurance policy, which means that if you need to make a claim on your temporary insurance, the main policy remains unaffected, including the No Claims Discount. You can get a quote through Tempcover or Marmalade.
What's covered
- Damage to the car
- Loss by fire or theft
- Repairs to the car
